J.Paul scores the music for this album and music is supposed to be the highlight of this movie. What is there in store for us?

Traditional Lyrics.
This is a well-conceived fusion piece of music running for seven and a half minutes. Dr. Balamuralikrishna starts off with humming Shanmukapriya raga without touching much upon the ‘prathimadhyamam’ swara which makes you wonder if it is Sindhubairavi. But he smoothly swerves into the first raga before others take up basically on the same scale-We have Muktiyar Ali singing the famous Rajasthani folk song’ Nimbuda Nimbuda’ followed by Chinnaponnu’s enthusiastic Tamil folk and then a bit of Baul music from Raju Das, concluding with the famous Hebrew folk number sung on festive occasions ‘Hava Nagila’ done nicely by
Shuba. A plethora of musical instruments- dilruba, violins, nagaswaram (which plays a cute ‘mallari’ bit in between) ethnic drums, thavil, drums, keyboard, ghatam etc; are heard in the background. A novel attempt for a Tamil movie!
The Search-Instrumental...
Composer: Ganesh-Kumaresh, Paul.J.
Vocals: Padma Shankar
Another interesting experiment- conveying a mood through a song-like instrumental piece. The music probes, soars, hops along and almost teases you to find the meaning. The charming Nalinakanti raga is essayed here—sa sa sa ma-sa sa sa ga-sa sa sa ri-so goes the start. Plenty of swirling raga phrases. Very neat blending with western notes!
Neethaney...
Vocals: Shankar Mahadevan, Mahalaxmi Iyer
Lyrics: Ravi Solomon
A small Natakurinji raga passage and the Vedic prayer ’Asathoma Sadh Gamaya---‘ lead to this slightly dramatic number in Madhyamavathi raga. Delightful percussive arrangements, soft use of strings and ‘jatis’ lift this song. Shankar Mahadevan sounds a bit strained. Could go up the charts.
Phoonk Doonga...
Vocals: Mahadevan, Malgudi Shuba. Rap: Blaaze.
Lyrics: Ravi Solomon
A very ‘busy’ number, this, with a breathless combination of rapping and middle-eastern music. A bit noisy, but well put-together! Uninhibited singing from both. Leaves you kind of zapped at the end! Yes, could be liked well by the youth.
Idhu Dhaan Vaazhkkaiyaa...
Vocals: Vasundhara Das
Lyrics: Ravi Solomon
Powerful verses that hit out against male insensitivity and an equally powerful rendering from Vasundhara. The strong guitar notes are subtly set off by the plaintive string (Dilruba?) notes that speak of the immense sadness of subjugation.
