All said and done, Yogi, Ameer’s intense drama set in the slums of Chennai, is after all an inspired version of a South African movie. Performances by Ameer, Madhumitha and Snehan are unquestionably brilliant, nevertheless.

Probably the big releases are keeping the audience away from the gritty tale of loss and destiny.
