LATEST CINEMA NEWS-RAJINI CONGRATULATES THE BROTHERS


Pongal saw two movie releases from the Kasturi Raja clan – Aayirathil Oruvan and Kutty. One directed by Selvaraghavan and the other acted out by Dhanush respectively. Superstar Rajini extracted time to personally view both the movies, after which he telephoned with his congratulations.

While he chose to surprise Dhanush in the middle of a live TV program in a private channel, he called up Selvaraghavan at his home on his feat Aayirathil Oruvan. He watched both the movies at a special screening arranged by the producers.

Thanks to their successful previous ventures, Ajith–Charan’s Asal is going in for a 500-print release all over. Produced by Sivaji Productions, Asal is said to be Ajith’s most expensive movie and is slated for a February release. Ajith has Sameera Reddy and Bhavana as female leads.

Although Ajith’s thick sideburns and a bushy moustache to go with it are by now popular, Charan says there’s another get up that’s kept under wraps. In this one, according to believable sources, Ajith will sport a thin handlebar moustache and a close-cut hairstyle. Besides, Ajith’s dialogues are also touted to be the movie’s highlight. Plus the fact that Ajith himself has worked on the screenplay of the movie will also be a focus point.

LATEST CINEMA NEWS-TAMIL STAR ENTERS TOLLYWOOD


Prabhu is all set to enter Tollywood. Though the actor has acted in a couple of Telugu films, it were all dubbed versions. This is the first time that Prabhu will don the greasepaint for two direct Telugu films. He will play an important role in an untitled film that has Prabhas and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles and in another film titled Orange he will share the screen space with Ram Charan Teja and Genelia.

Prabhu has done a small role in Asal, which is produced by his production house Sivaji Films. According to the actor, he will agree to act in a film only if the role suits him and if he can allot the call sheet.


LATEST CINEMA NEWS-AN ART DIRECTOR GETS INTO ACTING


Veerasekaran is a film that has Veerasamar and Amala Paul playing the lead roles. Veerasamar was an art director before deciding to don the greasepaint. The film is produced by Thuvar G Chandrasekar, who has done a cameo in the film.

According to Veerasekaran's director Satheesh Kumar, he had a businessman role in the film and was scouting for a suitable face. When the producer walked into the sets, he felt that he would fit the bill perfectly. After much persuasion, the producer decided to don the role.

The story, screenplay and dialogues are penned by Satheesh Kumar. SV Ezhil Selvan has wielded the camera and Sujan Madhav has scored the music. The film's hero Veerasamar has taken charge of the art direction. Knockout Nanda has choreographed the stunts while Prem has taken care of the editing.

Veerasekaran will hit the screens in February.

LATEST CINEMA NEWS-KAMAL'S ADVICE TO SHRUTHI


Shruthi Kamal has been signed up to star in a Telugu film opposite Siddharth. Following this, the lady has been getting offers from the Tollywood filmmakers. However, the musician-actress is keen on signing up new projects only if it offers her a meaty role.

Meanwhile, Shruthi's dad, actor Kamal Haasan, has reportedly told his daughter to learn the language before deciding on establishing her acting career in the Telugu film industry. Apparently, Kamal is keen that his daughter should dub with her own voice. The actress has heeded to Kamal's request and learning Telugu, we hear.

French singer China Moses and pianist Raphaël Lemonnier performed an amazing Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop at the Ball Room in Taj Coromandel Hotel in Chennai. Moses is not just a singer but a multifaceted personality. He is an author, lyricist, host and producer. The singer has released three albums so far - China, On tourne en Rond and Good lovin.

Yuvan Shankar Raja, who was present at the Taj Coromandel, praised China Moses for her excellent performance.


LATEST CINEMA NEWS-GAUTHAM'S PLANS FOR VTV


The song Aaromale in Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa has gained immense popularity already and has been topping the charts. Due to this, the film's director Gautham Menon has decided to shoot the song with the lead pair - Silambarasan and Trisha.

With the director deciding on filming the song, Trisha has given a call sheet to facilitate an early release of the film. VTV is slated for a February release and with this song the shooting schedule is expected to come to an end.

The recently divorced Kavya Madhavan says that she is getting offers from Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. The lady says that she is accepting films only if she finds them to be suitable. Kavya reveals that she is also interested in writing poetries and will henceforth concentrate on writing song lyrics too.

When asked about the reports that she is considering a re-marriage soon, the lady answered in negative. She declared that at present she would concentrate in her career and marriage is not on cards right now.

Zha Café, the newly opened café in the Adyar neighborhood hosted a 3-day pongal festival which was attended by celebrities including Renigunta Johnny, Music Director Dharan, Singer Suvi, Tamilpadam director Amuthan, 5star Krishna and actor Ashok.

The celebration featured ethnic dishes from villages including Karuppu Tea, Yell Urundai, Manaparai Murukku and Manpanai Pongal.

It’s about 8 years since she played the lead opposite Rajini in Baba and Manisha is back again in Tamil. Shedding all her inhibitions, she seems to have agreed to play Dhanush’s mother in law in the Mappillai remake, made immortal by late Srividya.

This news puts an end to the speculations which involved names such as Jayapradha and Sridevi for the role. Speaking to the press yesterday, January 19, 2010 Dhanush revealed the same adding that Manisha will sign the contract soon.

Mappillai is directed by Suraaj and will serve as the debut vehicle of Hansika Motwani, already popular in Tollywood circles.


LATEST TAMIL CINEMA NEWS-WHAT DID THEY FIND IN THE IT RAIDS?



Nothing was unearthed – no hidden stash or documents – during the IT raids conducted yesterday, January 19, 2010, in star homes in Chennai. Raids were conducted in the residences of Suriya, K S Ravikumar, A R Murugadoss and Vadivelu for more than 5 hours by the Income Tax officials.

It is now learnt that all the celebrities have come clean during the raids, although the officials have kept the results of the raids under wraps for about a day.
