High-voltage stunts for Maasi

Homely Sneha has turned into a hot cop with her latest bilingual ‘Bhavani’. G. Kicha, the director of this action entertainer is also directing another police story with Action King Arjun in the lead called, ‘Maasi’.

This is not the first time our Arjun is wearing the police uniform but then, the film’s circuit say that this particular police role is something that is not tried before. Moreover, it’s heard that the stunt sequences are designed extraordinarily with a lot of risky choreography. The film’s producer K S Kovai Mani has spent a big sum of money for these fight scenes say the sources.

Naadodigal Producer ropes in Madhavan & Aadhi

‘Naadodigal’ Producer Michael Rayappan wanted to produce his next with Samuthirakani again. However the director became busy with Naadodigal’s Telugu remake. Consequently, the plan was dropped.

So, the producer decided to give a break for debutant directors who are hunting for a chance with an impressive script. Michael Rayappan listened to a number of stories and has finally zeroed down on two scripts.

One among the two scripts is from a director called Vijayashankar and the team has fixed ‘Mirugam’ fame Aadhi in the lead role. We hear that Aadhi has given a 40-day long call-sheet at a stretch for this project.

The other script is from director Saravanan and has fixed Madhavan as the hero. Both the films are untitled as of now, say the sources.

And apart from these two films, Michael Rayappan has taken a great turn by undertaking ‘Goripalayalm’. To tell it straight, ‘Goripalayam’, the project that is creating hype in the industry today and directed by Rasu Madhuravan is from now on the production venture of Michael Rayappan.

Kalakkunga Rayappan Sir!

‘Paiya’ for Pongal?

Apart from ‘Vettaikkaran’ and ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’, one more film too has joined the Pongal race. And it is Lingusamy’s ‘Paiya’, starring Karthi Sivakumar and Tamannah in lead roles.

If sources are to be believed, attempts are on to release the movie for the harvest festival, as the director hopes that his product would match the festival mood. “The film is being shaped up in a racy way,” they add.

Besides, rumours are agog in cinema circles that the film’s rights would be bagged by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies, whose latest venture ‘Aadhavan’, the Suriya starrer, is doing well in the box office.

On ‘Paiya’, Lingusamy says, “It is a travelogue kind of action adventure. Karthi starts a journey from Bangalore to Mumbai along with Tamannah. The hurdles they face during their trip and they overcome everything is Paiya to you.”

Seeman gets his girl!

Director Manoj Kumar is directing his next titled ‘Utharavu’ with Director Seeman in the lead. And Nasser is ready to exchange blows with Seeman. This might be a clash between the grown-ups, not the usual silly one-on-one brawls, we think.

Everything is fine and ready but, what about the heroine? Hmmm... This is what troubled the whole crew so much, say the sources. We hear that many heroines backed-off immediately on hearing that Seeman is the hero. Finally director Manoj Kumar’s team caught a fresh beauty called Chandhini to pair with Seeman. More than anyone Manoj Kumar is visibly happy and relieved that Seeman has got his pair.

Seeman is busily practicing for the stunt sequences as he is shown as an action hero in ‘Utharavu’. When we asked about the storyline of the film, Manoj Kumar thus explained it to us:

“Seeman is a person who struggles for the growth of the deprived Tamils, without aiming at any profits. This is what in-fact the film deals about. That’s why I made Seeman the hero of ‘Utharavu’. Seeman is taking vigorous practice in stunts and dancing specially for this project. We have decided to can the film in places like Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Mettupalayam. Apart from this, we have decided to shoot a song sequence in Switzerland.”

Seeman Sir-ku Duet Undaa?

Trisha satisfies Simbhu and Naga at same moment

Trisha Krishnan who is New York these days with her “ Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya” cast and crew is satisfying her costars Naga Chaitanya and Simbhu simultaneously. The actress is presently busy under the direction of Gautahm Menon who is carving a bi lingual movie which has Silamabarasan in Tamil as lead and Nagachaiatanya in Telugu as lead.

Trisha happens to be the lead star in both languages and AR Rehman has composed the music the star cast is in New York for some song sequences shoot and Trisha is said to be romancing with her two co-stars simultaneously before the camera.

The movie will be released in December this year and will be a romantic thriller.

Trisha denial makes Sunaina as happy

Trisha, Shriya, Asin, Nayan and Sneha are said to be in a look out for the Hindi cinema industry offers and so the Tamil stars are all set to make merry with their absence Recently, the movie ‘Thiruthani’ was said to have petite beauty Trisha in the lead.

But due to her prior Bollywood commitments, the beauty refused to work in the movie which went in to the bag of Sunaina who is already trying hard to settle down in the tamil cinema industry.

After her movies “ Kadhalil Vizhunden’ and ‘Maasilamani’ Sunaian is waiting for meaty roles which could earn her some accolades in the tamil film industry. She has present two projects in hand which are Yathumagi and Kadhirvel which are said to offer her interesting role. Now, THIRUTHANI is in her bag and director Perarasu has offered her Rs 23 lacs as her remuneration for this film. Actor Bharath will play the lead role in this film will be a 2010 release.

But according to Tamil industry sources, Trisha denied this movie as she did not want to act with Bharath and so Sunaina has bagged the role.

Tamannah eyes on a National award

Tamannah Bhatia who is just 19 years (December 21st, 1989) in age has achieved success in the Tamil and Telugu cinema industries. She is now demanding Rs 1 cr for featuring alongside Kamal Hassan and Telugu star Ram Charan Teja and justifies her demand as she is ready to do any scene or wear any dress without any hesitation.

According to close sources to her, Tamannah is eyeing a national award and is pinning a lot of hopes on ‘Kandein Kadhalai’ which will hit screens on October 30th. The movie is a remake of 2007 super hit movie ‘Jab we Met’ and has Bharath as a hero.

However, her demand for Rs 1 crore as fee is making the producers and directors a bit nervous as nowadays the trend of dual heroines is going on in south Indian cinema and if Tammu demands Rs 1 cr, then it will be a huge loss to the producers in tailoring the other costs for the movie.

With Kandein Kadhalai hitting the screens, all eyes will be on Tamannah’s acting which is said to be a mimic of Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor. Hope she succeeds in mirroring her acting skills with bollywood’s hot star Kareena.

Kamal turns politician?

Kamal has started to spin around more energetically. Post the success of his ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ and his golden jubilee celebration, the actor has gained more momentum. One side Kamal has dusted out the script of his ‘Marmayogi’ from the shelf and is busily discussing to shape it up. And on the other hand he has jumped into his next venture with director K S Ravikumar. The grapevine is abuzz that this project will be an out-and-out commercial entertainer. Moreover the film is produced by Kamal’s home banner, Raaj Kamal Internationals. Everyone would be eager to know about the lucky princess who will pair up with our Ulaganayagan, right? Hmmm… then we have a small hint on that. We hear that the film’s team is discussing on Trisha or Tamannah according to sources.

Birdies add that K S Ravikumar is ready with the script and has shaped Kamal’s as a politician. Yeah! You heard it right Politician! We can hear what you think! (Wink)

Ok, let’s see how this one turns.

Venkat Prabhu with Amma Creations again

The ‘Saroja’ team is back. Producer T Siva of Amma Creations and filmmaker Venkat Prabhu will come together for a new movie, which would go on floors after the director’s ‘Goa’ hit the screens.

“I share a very good rapport with Siva. Hence we have decided to make a movie together again. As usual, this one too will be laced with humour,” says Venkat Prabhu, who has almost completed ‘Goa’.

On the film produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth, he says, “the movie is about a group of youngsters from a village, who face bizarre situations in their lives. Quiet resembling the title, the film will be a fun-filled journey.”

Revealing that the film would see the light of the day during January 2010, the director adds: “Get ready for some surprises in ‘Goa’. Our team members have come out with their best.”

Balu Mahendra’s son to assist him

After directing ‘Adhu Oru Kanaa Kaalam’ with Dhanush and Priyamani in the lead, legendary director Balu Mahendra was on a long rest due to his ill health. Our Camera Kavingar is known for his love towards film industry and his thirst to learn more and more till the end. Ask him anything on the subject of the industry and he will have the answer; one can call him the Mobile Film School.

Now that the director has regained his heath, he is ready to make his next project. The director is keen to do this project with fresh faces in the lead. The film will be producer by an NRI and we hear that the shoot will start by 2010 January.

The director who adapts himself to the latest techniques so easily has decided to make use of a hottest digital camera called ARRIFLEX D-21 for this untitled flick, say the sources. It’s worthy to mention that ARRIFLEX D-21 is the only digital camera that looks, feels, and runs like a 35mm film camera.

Moreover, Balu Mahendra’s son Sangi Mahendra will be assisting his dad for the first time ever. Sources further add that the ace director has decided to pick 5 students from his film school as his assistant directors of this project.

We are waiting for you Balu Sir, Welcome back!

Where is Sura?

After the chill schedule in Alleppey, Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay was working in Marakkanam for his 50th film ‘Sura’. The shoot that started on October 21st was to can a few stunt sequences on the Uppaneri Bridge near Marakkanam Salt Lake. Vijay fought with villain Dev’s gang for almost threes days, say the sources.

Then after a three days gap, the shoot resumed in Prasad Studio and AVM Studio on October 27th. Sources from the film’s crew said that two song sequences were shot in the studios with grand sets.

Now the whole team is gearing-up to start the third schedule of the shoot in Hyderabad. This schedule will be starting from November 5th onwards.

When things are going like this, birdies chirped that ‘Jayam’ Raja may direct Vijay’s 51st film. But latest we could hear sources stating that Lingusamy has approached Vijay with a script.

Ok let’s see what our Sura hunts next…

Rajinikanth goes to Hyderabad

This November 7th a starry night is to be held in Hyderabad to raise funds for helping Andhra Pradesh's flood victims.

This grand event will see Superstar Rajinikanth and many more celebs from Tamil and Hindi cine industry scorching the event with their benign presence.

Dasari Narayana Rao, ace film personality confirmed the same recently to the media. As the event is meant to raise money for a noble cause, support is coming from various quarters. In fact, Telugu industry is preparing for the event in a big way and Dasari's call for everyone to attend seems to have been taken seriously by all and sundry.

If the event becomes a success like the A R Rahman's Jai Ho Concert, a huge fund will be raised for the flood victims.

We wish for the best guys!

What next for Endhiran?

‘Endhiran’ that is shaping up in the hands of Shankar with the help of Rajini-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s perfect blend is nearing its final stage now!

The shoot of this mega budget film had been on the roll from September 2008. First Shankar took his team to Peru for shooting a duet between the lead pair. Then the team was in Goa, Chennai and then Vellore. Now 90% of the film’s shoot is over and 2 song sequences with some part of the climax fight are there to be shot, say the sources.

Last year on 26th, 27th and 28th of December the fight scene in which the Robo Rajini fights with the original Rajini was shot at VIT University in Vellore. What we hear from the sources is that the remains of the climax will be shot in the same college. Moreover the scenes which will be shot with the help of blue matte will be done in Prasad Studios.

Appada... Oru Vazhiya Shoot Mudiyapodhu...

Madhavan turns script writer

He is an actor. He is a producer. And now, he is a script writer. He is Madhavan, the evergreen chocolate boy of Tamil cinema. G N R Kumaravelan, who had garnered attention with ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’, will wield the megaphone for Madhavan’s script.

“Madhavan, who saw ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ appreciated me a lot. He then gave me a story penned by him and wanted me to make it as a movie. I was really stunned by the story and expressed my desire that he would fit well to the lead role,” says the young filmmaker.

Saying that Madhavan has accepted to act in the film, Kumaravelan says plans are on to start the project soon. “I am leaving for Mumbai to give final touches to the screenplay along with Madhavan."

On the storyline, he says, "it has got enough surprises that would turn all eyes towards Madhavan. An official announcement will be made soon."

Samuthirakani’s assistant in demand

If a film becomes a hit, everyone including the technicians who worked for that film will be in great demand. Now the lucky man who is busy is Samuthirakani’s associate director Suriya Prabakar. Post the victory of Samuthirakani’s ‘Naadodigal’, the aspiring director has got his first golden ticket.

Suriya Prabakar is getting his break through the production of Screen Medias. The director is taking care of the story, screenplay, dialogues and direction part of the movie, which is titled as ‘Thaa’.

“This is a casual story. A guy who fights and wins against 10 men is not a perfect gentleman but, the one who takes care of a girl and behaves properly with her is a gentleman. The film is the story of a rough-tough guy who falls in love. I have used this script to tell the transformation of a rough guy with a different backdrop in this one. My hero is a fresher, Harish Uthaman and I am in the process of selecting the heroine,” said the director when we asked about his debut venture.

Hmmm… So, love in another frame is ‘Thaa’!

Sound check for ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’

Though ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ is ready, the makers have not made any digital discs or prints till now. Selavaraghavan is working on the first schedule of the project that he is doing with Vikram- Swathi in Ladak region.

But then the director has made his associate Karthik to work on the SFX sound track correction of ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’. As the film is made with the influence of ‘Time Out’, a French film, Aayirathil Oruvan’s sound track is designed with the reference of this French make, say the sources.

Though the sounds were designed here, it was recorded on the track in abroad. Sadly the sound recording which was done out there was of inferior quality than that of which is done in our place; Selva was shocked! So, the director has made his assistant to make the needed corrections here itself.

The production side had planned to make the prints immediately after the sound correction as they can’t permit further delay of the project. There is a strong reason for the concern from the production side. Oh yeah! Sources say that the film’s budget which was 5 crore in the initial stage has multiplied to 5 times more.

Adengappa... Aayirathil Oruvan Nijamavey Weighttaana Padamthan Poola...

It’s the turn of Arjun’s product

Superstar’s Chella Ponnu is doing a great job as a producer and owning a high-tech studio. Our Ulaganayagan’s daughter Shruthi is no way behind, and is stepping into every stream of cine field, just like her father. Same way, Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalaxmi is also earning fame and name with her dance show Mamma Mia.

It’s like these girls are proving that they are in no way inferior to their daddy darlings. And the one who enters this daddy’s girl list is our Action King Arjun’s daughter Anjana. This starlet is doing her schooling in Lady Aandal School and is simultaneously doing costume designing for her dad’s films. This little talent is concentrating in her studies and in her passion, which is dance. Anjana is keenly learning Bharathanatyam, Kuchupudi and Mohiniattam through qualified Gurus. Anjana is keen to do create waves in classical dancing and is not interested in acting at all, say the sources close to the family.

Apdi Podu… Pulikku Porandhathu Poonai Aaguma?

Kakka Kakka Prakash Raj!?!

Tamil film industry is engulfed by the remake wave like Tsunami these days. Director Selva does a great job remaking old Tamil movies and when it comes to M.Raja, he remakes Telugu films for Tamil. Leaving the both, even Kamal who does off beat films and think different has taken remake toy in his hands recently. Cool... This trend is kinda fun...

Now another lover of cinema is interested to leap into this group. Yup, our Prakash Raj will be acting in a remake movie which will be produced by his home banner Duet movies. For the process the actor had bought the rights of a Hindi film, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’. The film had Nana Patekar in the lead as an encounter specialist. Sources add that the film will be directed by Guhan.

When we heard this, the first thing that flashed to our mind was Gouthan Menon’s ‘Kakka Kakka’. So, we will see Prakash Raj like ‘Kakka Kakka’ Suriya?

Yuvan and Venkat Prabhu for Bhagiyaraj

Kalpathi S Agoram's AGS Entertainment is all set to scale greater heights. The famed production house which made movies like 'Thiruttu Payale', 'Santosh Subramaniam' and 'Masilamani', is currently doing a handful of movies.

The star cast for the K V Anand's project will be announced later.

Vishal talks about Bala’s project

For Vishal, his forthcoming film to be directed by Bala, in which he would rub shoulders with Arya, would take him to the next level.

“One day, Bala sir invited me to his place to listen to the story. I was initially hesitant as I was not ready for a double hero subject. However, when Bala narrated the story, I was totally impressed by it,” the actor says.

He adds: “The script is so interesting. It is a unique theme. I am sure that the film would take both me and Arya to the next level. I am eagerly looking forward to work with Bala, the man who had moulded many top actors.”

On ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’, Vishal says, “I had corrected the mistakes I had made in my last two films. ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’ will sure be a treat to everyone, especially youngsters. Yuvan’s music is a highlight of the movie.”

Suresh is Ajith's villain

Suresh, the chocolate-boy of south Indian films in the 1980s, is busy with his second innings. Buzz is that he plays a negative role in 'Asal' (being produced by Sivaji Productions) which stars Ajith.

On his 'Asal' experiences, Suresh says, "it is a young team. Director Saran has given me an image makeover. I am working with renewed energy. Acting with a seasoned performer like Ajith is a great feeling".

Recalling his journey in the tinsel town, Suresh says, "my father Gopinath was a noted filmmaker in Tamil cinema. He inspired me to enter films. I started my career as an editing assistant and dance assistant".

Suresh's maiden venture was 'Panneer Pushpangal', directed by Bharathy - Vasu. The movie went on to become a big hit. Says Suresh, 'I was chosen by Bharathiraja for 'Alaigal Oivathillai' when the offer to do 'Panneer Pushpangal' came my way. My father insisted that I should do 'Panneer Pushpangal' as they approached me first."

Romantic roles were his forte and he played the lover boy in over 200 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam

‘Asal’ Sameera from Paris

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to tan yourself under the shimmering sun on the streets of Paris and find out quaint little places in the city? Holidaying in this city situated on the river Seine, in northern France is a great delight.

Our ‘Asal’ girl Sameera Reddy is enjoying her days in Paris. But no! The girl is not in her holiday trip but is busy with her shooting; nevertheless she is using every free moment to explore the beauty around her.

This is not the first time she is visiting Paris but, each time the girl discovers something new! This time she is exploring the city with the team of ‘Asal’.

Sameera says, “Paris is the most romantic city. They are a delight to behold and truly define creativity. You can spend hours sitting in the open street cafes. The Eiffel tower at night is a sight one shouldn't miss. The people here are humble and nice, always ready to help and are really friendly”

Emmm… Paris may be romantic but Tamil Nadu is friendly for anyone, what say guys?

Sampath and Suresh to clash with ‘Asal’ Ajith

Suresh, the handsome hero of 80s, and Sampath one of the smart baddies of the industry are ready to rub shoulders with our ‘Asal’ hero Ajith Kumar.

As of now Ultimate Star is fighting it out with Sampath in Paris for the last two weeks.

When asked about ‘Asal’ shoot Sampath said, “Ajith sir is the coolest star I have ever met. He taught me a few things during the shoot of ‘Asal’. I had earlier worked with him in ‘Tirupathi’, but did not have so many scenes together, this time I’m happy and lucky. Everything is shaping up well.”

Birdies say that the action scenes and arguments between the hero and the bad guys are shot with the touch of Hollywood style. Suresh will sport a bald look for this big budget action film produced by Prabhu and Ramkumar for Sivaji Productions.

This Saran’s film has Sameera Reddy and Bhavana to play the female leads.

Lingusamy confirms Vijay movie

Now that his Karthi-Tamannah starrer ‘Paiya’ is nearing completion, Lingusamy is getting ready for the next. The hero of the film is none other than Vijay, who is currently acting in ‘Sura’ in the direction of S P Rajakumar.

Says Lingusamy, “I am penning a story for Vijay, which would touch new heights in action genre. Plans are on to make the movie in a grand scale by making use of all latest technical advancements.”

On reports he would direct Chiranjeevi’s son Ramcharan Teja, the filmmaker says, “Yes. I am also planning to direct Ramcharan. His performance in ‘Magadheera’ is simply stunning. I have narrated two stories to him.”

Ask him about ‘Paiya’, he says, “it is a travelogue kind of action adventure. Karthi starts a journey from Bangalore to Mumbai along with Tamannah. The hurdles they face during their trip and they overcome everything is ‘Paiya’ to you.”

Vishnuvardhan to direct Ajith?

Vishnuvardhan and Ajith share a good rapport. The duo's 'Billa', a remake of yesteryear Rajinikanth hit salvaged Ajith's pride at the box-office.

And now, Ajith, who is currently shooting for his 49th film 'Asal', being produced by Sivaji Productions and directed by Saran, has reportedly approached Vishnuvardhan for his next project.

Sources reveal that Ajith had asked Vishnuvardhan to provide one-page script. When contacted, Vishnuvardhan refused to comment, however, he said that he was now busy penning the script for a Telugu movie with Allu Arjun in the lead.

Bharadwaj is the new neighbor of RK

Does anyone in this world dislike food and music? Hmmm… and any form of these two is in one way or the other the favorite of the people. Now Chennai has got a place which is turning out to be the new landmark of the city. The “Vanga Sappidalam” restaurant in T Nagar, owned by actor RK is the one we are talking about. Almost every VIP is happy to dine and relish the flavour of the dishes prepared with an authentic style.

And very near by this multi-cuisine restaurant, music director Bharadwaj has opened his new recording studio which was inaugurated by directors Saran and Thangar Bachchan. As we all know, the composer is scoring music for Ajith’s ‘Asal’ produced by Sivaji films.

What we hear from the 'Asal' team is that the composer and his team are eagerly waiting to start the composition of 'Asal' in this brand new studio. Now that the team is back from the long abroad schedule we can hope to hear music flowing from the studio soon.

We wish that the studio proves to be lucky to the film and film proves lucky to the studio. We have to keep our fingers crossed until we listen to the music of ‘Asal’.

Ajith is in Chennai now!

Our Thala Ajith was held up with the work of his ‘Asal’ all these days, and now he is back from the 45 days long overseas schedule. Flying between France-Chennai-London must have tired him up but, the hero had to take a big decision now and it’s not a time to rest! This big decision is that about his landmark 50th movie.

Earlier we had a sensational tiding about Ajith Kumar's 50th film. Sources said that Venkat Prabhu will be wielding megaphone for this project. Then grapevine was abuzz that Ajith and Murugadoss met personally and enquired about their forthcoming projects. Director A R Murugadoss is one who directed Ajith’s ‘Dheena’and he is keen to direct his 50th flick. The speculations about K S Ravikumar pairing up with the hero made rounds for some time and then it was Vishnuvradhan who gave the stylish ‘Billa’.

Oof….. So many proposals and so many things to think about!

On the other hand, Thala has to take care of his ‘Asal’ too. Nearly eighty percent of ‘Asal’ is over by now and the remaining part will be of a fight sequence and two more songs. But the producers of this big budget action extravaganza are not ready to waste time and are working on the post-production of the movie.

We know you Thala… You can do it all…
